The Real Estate Staging Association has just released their Real Estate Staging Statistics Report 2010. Professional home stagers from across the US and Canada submitted statistics from their staging projects and the verdict is:
Vacant homes that were staged sold, on average, in 63 days after staging, after having sat on the market for an average of 277 days unstaged.
Occupied homes that were staged sold, on average, in 53 days after staging, after having sat on the market for 233 days unstaged.
The report offers evidence that home sellers stand to save thousands of dollars in holding costs (mortgage, insurance, property taxes, etc.) by hiring a professional home stager.

Great information! We have so much more success with listings that are staged and the sellers net more too!
Michelle,
Thanks for the info regarding home staging. I agree with your numbers. I have always encouraged my sellers to consider staging as an alternative for enhanced tours. On the flip side, with my buyers I have seen more favorable responses to homes that have been staged versus homes that were not.
Thanks for circulating this article!! GREAT info to pass along!
Vince: I'm glad you like it. Feel free to download it and use it with your clients.
Tony: Yay! I'm glad you've had good results with home staging, both on the seller and the buyer side. Download the report and share it with your clients.
Kathy: Its another tool in our home staging arsenal. It creates a greater understanding of the benefits of home staging.
Michelle, I'm glad it's got statistics but it's something we've known all along. Maybe this will help the remaining skeptics who wonder if Staging is 'worth the investment" or they'd still rather take huge price reductions.
Carole: Home staging works. You know it, I know it and many very successful listing agents know it. Hopefully, some of the hold-outs who are less enthusiastic, will give home staging a try after reading this.
Michelle- Thanks for sharing this. I've found that besides the Before and After photos, Realtors and Sellers want to know the stats. More information to offer for our services.
Thanks for letting us know Michelle. Now will have to change the link on my upcoming website.
Incredible - but not surprising (especially for those of us who did this for a living).
Thanks for sharing, Michelle.
Kathy
Kathy Streib: Having current statistics is always helpful. Shell Brodnax really worked hard on this and she deserves a round of applause.
Ginger: You're welcome. Let us know when your new site is ready.
Kathy: I'm glad to get the word out.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Michelle. That cover photo is stunning!
My pleasure, Diana, and thank YOU!
