We staged a very nice Tudor cottage last week in South Pasadena. We met the homeowner and within a couple of days we had a signed home staging contract and turned it around very quickly. When empty, the living room looked long and narrow:

Adding a Persian rug and appropriately sized furniture makes the living room look proportional and comfortable:

The brick red sofas add color and life to an otherwise very neutral white room. The creamy tones of the Persian rug lighten and brighten the space.

Wow; you are right about the red sofas adding color and the rung makes it look elegant! Great post.
Michelle- loved the color choice for the sofas but also the scale of the furniture. Definitely transforms the room into something other than a large narrow entry.
You successfully transformed a cold and narrow space to one that is warm and inviting. Excellent work Michelle!
Very nice! That room was definitely screaming for color.
Very nice. The brick color changes the entire look of the room. Very warm and inviting.
Beautiful transformation! Buyers have a much more inviting and comfortable room to greet them now!
Yup, I agree. It's a beautiful transformation, Michelle.
Congratulations. Your home staging is being featured in the group Staging Before and After Pictures.
Kathy
Such a successful color for staging! It looks fabulous Michelle!
Thank you Kathy T, Kathy S, Michele, Patsy, Sharon & Cathy Lee! I've never used that sofa before, but you can bet I'll be using it again!
Thanks, Kathy N. Thanks for the feature, too.
Wow, the room looks so much bigger. I also love the colour of the sofa - also, clever to only use one chair and a glass console instead of two chairs. Looks very spacious. Great job, Michelle.
What a difference adding just the right furniture and accessories make. I love the red sofa too.
Sally: Using one chair not only makes the room look larger, it saves the client (& me) money. The glass console reflects a lot of light so it make the room look larger, and because it's glass it takes up space without taking up space, if you know what I mean:o) Thank you!
Thanks, Wanda!
I love the color you chose for the sofa and chair. It really pops in that room. The muted colors on the area rug form the perfect backdrop for the furnishings and the wood flooring. Great looking!
Very nice and warm. Love the colours
Thank you Geri.
Kimberly, thank you.
Okay, so I'm totally browsing your blog! This room looks awesome! Also, your photography is better than the average bear -- do you do it yourself? What kind of set up do you use? (Camera, flashes yes or no?)
Thank you, Deena. I have a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens on a D40 body. A Ferrari lens on a Ford PU camera body:o)) The wide appeture lens allows me to shoot without flash but I shoot with and without flash (hot shoe) and choose the best photo. I almost always prefer the photo taken without flash, because I like the warmer color tempurature, but sometimes the flash shot wins. I have not graduated to slave flashe units yet, but may rent some just to experiment.
Hi Michelle...I like the fact that, for me, you added just the right amount of furniture, color, and accessories. The room lost all its barrenness and yet it was not overdone.
Kate
Thank you, Kate. I'm glad you like it. I am always trying to strike a balance between keeping costs down, but keeping quality up to my standards.
Beautiful Michelle~ so much more inviting and comfortable, great job!!!
Thanks, Chrissie.
Love it! Seeing the room now, one can really imagine how much fits into the room. Great transformation! As usual - great photographs, Michelle!
Birgit, thank you:o))
