Los Angeles Home Stager Gets Crafty With Silk Flowers & Succulents

As a top notch Los Angeles home stager, my clients expect me to bring beautiful, realistic silk, faux or fake flower arrangements to use in their homes or listings. While most people would prefer live plants, due to the expense and need to maintain them, it is not always realistic to use live plants. Here's photos of 2 arrangements that I made to use in this Larchmont Village Hancock Park home staging project this week.

I really enjoy creating these plant and flower arrangements. It allows me to create exactly what I want and need for my home staging projects.

The key about these plants is that they look real... and you have used quality silks. I just love the little on under the lamp ;))

Your plant and flowers do look real. I love the colors in the first picture. You really are creative.

I'll have to look into using succulants - yours look so real.  Julie

LKP: Yes, it's very important that they look real. I like that succulent too. I like the color.

Thanks, Linda.

Julia: They aren't always easy to find, but the look great.

Many "fakes" in the store, well, they just look fake and plastic"ky".  We have had to resort to creating our own on a few occassions because we couldn't find what we wanted.  Thanks for sharing your "how-to's" !

Michelle, not only are your faux floral arrangements amazing, but the groupings with the candles, picture frames and lamps make them look even more exciting.

Julie/Amy: I agree - many fake plants look fake. My goal is to create arrangements that people have to touch to see if they're real

Sally: I stage everything :o))

Very nice, Michelle.  What is your best source for quality silks?

Posted by Beth Lester Real Estate Staging & ReDesign (Home Staging Designs of California) over 1 year ago

Beth: I buy them in a lot of places...Moskatels Wholesale, Michaels, Wholesale Flower Market, etc. But I buy most at the Merchandise Mart downtown.

Michelle: I am all for fake foliage!!! No upkeep - just a little dusting...these are stunning arrangements. I love succulents even if they're not "real" Thanks for the great ideas!

Cari: Many people turn up their nose at fake flowers and foliage, but I get a lot of compliments on how real mine look. For home staging, fake flowers & plants can't be beat.

Thanks, Michelle.  I can see I need to make a trip to LA!

Michelle - these are great!  I'm sure it was much less expensive than buying them premade as well...

(Would you consider sharing these with our new website, The Hive... www.creatingthehive.com.  I have a special section for floral arrangements - could also be added to home decor. It's another opportunity to be found... )

Michelle, I took a peek at your succulent arrangement blog and wow they do look great. I love the fact that these have come into vogue. Because if you are going to use fake foliage the succulents look fabulous compared to most other silks. If only they weren't SO expensive, but its fun to find deals.

Another place I've found that carries them is Jo Ann Etc. stores. Overstock carries a few also but have yet to order from there. We have a giant Tuesday Morning here in Dallas and occasionally I find good plants or containers there. Nice work!!
