This Long Beach home sold two weeks after staging (after sitting for two months with no offers) and the homeowner was thrilled. 60 DOM before staging - SOLD in 14 days after staging by Moving Mountains Design. Here is her testimonial:
"Michelle Minch is absolutely delightful to do business with, and a genius at what she does (STAGING!!). My beautiful "cottage" was on the market for two months without a decent offer. I had the greatest realtor ever and she was working the property. And we had to keep dropping the price along with the crazy and difficult market. But no offers!!
I read an LA Times article about Michelle and her staging successes and decided I needed her help. When I called Michelle, she responded quickly and professionally and got my home staged quickly. And two weeks later my home was in escrow!! I only wish I had called on her to stage my house when I first put it on the market. I am convinced I would have gotten a far better price and sold my house much quicker. Thanks to Michelle and her crew for all their great work and for helping me and my realtor get the job done. Great work!!"
The homeowner had already moved out of the house and up to Oregon where she was hoping to purchase a new home and retire. She had left a lot of furniture and accessories which were going to be sold in an estate sale once the house sold. The garage was packed to the rafters, and much of what we used we found by digging through the boxes and stacks. We staged this house with the homeowner's own furniture (mostly) and some accessories. I brought some accessories, bedding, towels, artwork, silk plants, a blow up bed and a coffee table.

Staging by Moving Mountains Design Home Staging was a very inexpensive and cost effective way to get this home sold quickly. This was a modest house and we staged with modest furniture. Staging doesn't have to be fancy or complicated to be effective. But it does require an experienced professional stager who understands the market and how to best use the available resources to squeeze maximum appeal from the home and furnishings.
When we staged this house, I could see 4 other houses for sale from the front yard. When we destaged, the same 4 houses were for sale and an new one had been added.
While we were staging, after we first got there, a Real Estate Agent showed up to show the house to a client. They practically ran through the house and back out the door. 3 hours later, after we were done staging and I was photographing the house for the listing agent, another Real Estate Agent showed up with another client. They walked slowly through the house and lingered in every room. They were there for over 1 hour. I know because I couldn't finish taking my photos. I kept hearing the client (and potential buyer) exclaiming how cute the house was and how it was everything she was looking for. Would she have felt the same way if she had seen the house unstaged? Probably not.
Here are some shots of the family room:

A great stager can help you make it in this business. These are very nice photos! Congrats on the sale!
Michelle - Congrats on a quick sale! You really brought that home to life. The colors really pop.
Betina: Thanks for being a FOS (Friend of Staging). I hope you are not suffering any effects from Ike and if you are that they are minimal.
Michelle- Another great job! Congratulations on selling quickly. It is nice she read about you and called :) Now there is another believer in staging. (The other houses on the street will be calling soon........)
Hi Tanya! I had to work with the palette that was already existing. I don't normally do occupieds but when she sent me the link to the photos on the MLS, I saw how much this home would benefit from staging. It was fun.
Love that you carried the burgundy color of the dining room walls into the bedroom (bedspread) and also living room (rug, artwork and pillows). It creates a cohesiveness to the house. Great work, Michelle.
Michelle, maybe you should work with occupieds more often. You're great at it just like with the vacants. You always do an amazing job.
What a difference even adding a little bit of green can make to a home! I do my best to have a plant in every room (even if it has to be artificial in the lesser-used rooms) just to give it that fresh feel. Nice job!
Michelle ~ Maybe she'll luck out and the buyer will want to purchase some of her furniture too. Yes, "echo" was the first thing I thought of when I saw that family room! Great job working with her things!
Wendy: She was a great client. And I couldn't have asked for a better testimonial.
Leah: The palette was set by her existing furnishings and wall color. I like to use deep reds a lot. I find them very invigorating but not overpowering.
Tanya: (blushing). Thank you. I do occassionally do occupieds, but I really enjoy vacants. I can let my creative juices flow.
"January": Green plants, whether 'real' or silk, always add life to a room. I have a huge stock of high quality silk plants and I use them a lot.
Kathy P: I wound up buying a few things from her. Everything else went in the estate sale. The family room was scary and so unfriendly. The rug was the perfect accent that tied everything together.
Mitchelle
What a World of difference in each room.
Whata alot opf work.
Sincerely
Tom BRaatz
Hi Tom: Thank you and thank you for stopping by.
Great work, Michelle (as always) and what a wonderful testimonial for today's marketplace!
Michelle, What a gorgeous job and testimonial! The before pictures had no life or energy....and the 'after' shots filled this home with good feelings. I do hope those other realtors contact you--and am sure they will after seeing your work.
Connie: She wrote that testimonial with no coaching. I was floored when I got it.
Carole: When we first walked into the house it felt cluttered and tired. There was a lot of dusty, old dried flower arrangements - bad feng shui! We removed some stuff, added a few things, moved some of the furniture around and et voila - it all of a sudden had a good flow and good energy.
Michelle - awesome job, as always. And what a well deserved testimonial. I'm sure glad that the homeowner found you as it truly made a difference.
Congratulations. Your post is being eatured in the group; Staging Before & After Pictures.
Kathy
Kathy: Tip of the hat to you. I got the idea for this post from your post Home Staging Testimonial - Front and Center & Never Edited. Thanks, and thank you for the featured post.
Michelle, Another great success story. You added warmth to the home. Love the rug in the family room and how you pulled it all together. Great testimonial - well deserved.
Michelle, LOVE IT! I'm a sucker for before and after photos and these are fabulous, as is the job you did for your client. Congrats on another job well done!
Michele: I'm always so happy when I can help sell a home. Thank you for your kind comments. BTW, I bought the rug on Ebay! I usually don't use such a brightly colored rug, but it worked in this instance.
Lisa: I love staging, and I love it when the stars align and the sale goes quickly and smoothly. Thanks!
The rug in the family room made the room look fabulous!!! Congratulations on a quick and profitable sale!!
Congratulations Michelle, very nice work and very nice results and I see you used one of my all time favorite art pieces in the living room.
Cathy: Thank you. I agree, the rug pulled the family room together nicely. I'm very happy for my client.
Gary: I got that piece from Bombay when they were going out of business. I thought it might be useful and I have used it a lot. I wish I could get more! Thanks.
That testimonial is wonderful Michelle and of course well deserved. I'm glad your clients recognize the expertise and value you bring to the table.
Thanks, Karen. Right back at ya, Chica!
Aloha Michelle,
What a great testimonial! The Persian rug looks like the real deal, is it?
Peace,
Hi Kimo: The rug is real. It is a semi-antique Mahal, probably 50 or 60 yrs old. I bought it on Ebay. I don't get to use the dark colored rugs so much here in SoCal so it is always a treat . Lighter colored rugs tend to work better in this climate.
