Alhambra Home Staging - An Updated Craftsman

Staging an updated Craftsman in Alhambra CA.

Moving Mountains Design Home Staging is know for staging multi-million dollar luxury estates in the Los Angeles Area. But we also stage lots of more modest homes in lower price points.

Last week we staged a beautiful updated Craftsman home in Alhambra CA. The homeowners were very willing to do most of the suggested repairs and fixes, beyond those they had already undertaken, and they followed my instructions to the letter, especially on the curb appeal issues.

This home had many beautiful upgrades (like granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms) yet still managed to maintain the period charm characteristic of many Craftsman homes like a beautiful fireplace and wainscot.

Fireplace does not stand out. And the window treatments make the home look dark and fussy, not light, bright and updated.

Now the fireplace is the centerpiece of the living room and the room is divided up in a way that each area has purpose.

Why, thank you, Fernando. I'm glad you like it.

Hi Tom: Glad to see you out and about in the Rain. I hope you are feeling better. Thank you for stopping by and for your generous approval.

Michelle, Removing those window coverings was a huge improvement.  So much more light and it really enhanced the look of the beautiful woodwork.  The room looks much wider with furniture in it.  Another beauty for your portfolio.  Thanks for sharing!!

Thank you so much Michele. The window treatments were heavy and dark and didn't do anything to enhance the home. The home has something of a bowling alley effect without any furniture. It was hard to see what each part of the room could be used for without furniture. Thanks for commenting.

Beautiful as always, Michelle, and here's to a fast sale! Will I be seeing you tomorrow?

Hi Connie: Thank you. I don't think I'm going to make it to Mojito Monday at Brook tomorrow:o((My bookkeeper is coming tomorrow and she was out sick last week so I have a pile of paperwork to plow through.

Gorgeous work, as always! I love it - and removing the window treatments was a great idea!

Fabulous Sista!  You did it again my friend. Can't believe you are turning down a mojito though... you deserve it! ;)

Michelle- It looks gorgeous!! But I am not surprised as you always do a wonderful job! The removal of the window treatments added much need light to the room :)

Tanya: These clients were so easy to work with. They hung on my every word, so the job came together quickly and easily.

Annie: I'm glad they were ameniable to removing those window treatments. They were custom, so not cheap, but they were old and dowdy. It made a big difference.

LKP: Mmmm Mojito. I might be able to find enough for the bookkeeper to do while I slip out. Thanks.

Wendy: I'm not sure about gorgeous, but it does look far better than it did, I'll give you that. The drapery had to go. Thank goodness they listened to me.

Yes, for a Craftsman in Alhambra it is gorgeous! I am trying to think of new words because great, wonderful and beautiful are getting boring :)

Your work is incredible.  You truly made this space far more inviting and did indeed showcase the fireplace.

Congratulations.  Your post is being featured in the group; Staging Before & After Pictures.

Let there be light!  Looks so beautiful!  I am sure it will sell quickly because of your talent.

Posted by Cathy Lee, ASP, IAHSP, RESA Danville, CA (CL Design Services Home Staging) about 10 years ago

Thank you Kathy, and thanks for the feature.

Cathy: More light definitely makes a difference. The house is long and narrow, so the middle part of the room is dark if there are heavy window treatments. Thank you.

Wonderful warm colors and so inviting in looks! Great work Michelle!  These old bungalows are really fun to stage....thanks for sharing!  Regards-Kathleen G

Thanks Kathleen. This one is a mix of old and new. I wanted to keep it's Craftsman charm, yet make it appealing to someone who liked the idea of all the upgrades.

Isn't it great to have clients who follow through with all your recommendations Michelle? You demostrate how staging goes beyond the interior to the exterior curb appeal, which after all is just as important for buyers too. The house shows beautfully.

Posted by Karen Otto, Plano Home Staging, Dallas Home Staging, www.homes (Home Star Staging) about 10 years ago

Karen: I do love it when clients follow my recommendations. Those are the clients that have the best results in terms of getting the most offers on their homes quickly and close to or above their asking price. I never understood why someone would hire an expert and then not follow their recommendations. Thank you Karen.

Wonderful work Michelle!  I love the variety that home staging brings to the table -- WOW your work is awesome and I know I have found it to be a delightful challenge staging at different price points!

best regards, my friend!

Michelle, It's Stunning and the photos truly show off your work! Nicely done.

Posted by Michele Kurelich, Raleigh Home Staging and Design (Triangle Home Staging & Design/Lasting Impressions) about 10 years ago

Karen: I like to change it up a bit, so staging at different price points is fun. It helps me learn new ways to bring better value to my higher end clients, and bring a higher end look to clients with more modest budgets. Thank you.

Michele: I'm glad you like the photos. Thank you.

Great job staging and a better job picking the wall color.   The room looked so dark before painting.

You are a very talented person

Posted by Teresa Meyer, Home Staging Cincinnati-OH. (Cincinnati Home Stager) about 10 years ago

Virginia: Actually the walls were freshly painted in the before picture, but we did remove the heavy window treatments which made a big difference. Thank you.

Debbie: About 8 hours:o((You're welcome to join us anytime.

Thank you, Teresa. I hope you are right.

Michelle,

Looks great!  I am sure the homeowners were very pleased with the end results!  Taking the drapes down in the dining room really brightened up the space.

Posted by Michelle Pimentel, ASP, IAHSP Empire Home Staging (Empire Home Staging Solutions) about 10 years ago

Thanks, Michelle. The homeowners were very pleased. They said their home had never looked so good. I usually remove the window treatments. In most cases they make the rooms look smaller and the whole house feels darker.
