Home Goods Is Coming to La Canada!

Home Goods is opening a store in La Canada!

I was very excited to read in the Sunday Los Angeles Times today that Home Goods is opening a new store in La Canada-Flintridge. I will no longer be forced to drive the 26+ miles in each direction to shop at one of my favorite home decor stores. The new store is just a hop, skip and a jump from my home and my warehouse.

The new store will be located at the La Canada Flintridge Town Center at the intersection of Foothill Blvd. and Angeles Crest Highway (2 Fwy.). This is the new shopping center that will also house the new Sports Chalet.

La Canada is becoming quite the shopping destination!

I do a lot of shopping at various Home Goods stores around the Southland depending upon where my projects are located. I have gotten some terrific deals, not only for home staging, but also for my interior design projects. If you haven't been to a Home Goods, I recommend you check them out if you are in the market for furniture, linens, towels or home decor.

I wish they would come to NWA. I would love to see what everyone here on AR is always talking about. I had never heard of Home Goods until I joined AR.

Michelle, I love their commercials but I don't know of one around here and I keep meaning to look it up.  I'm going to have to, I'm sure there must be one and their items look wonderful.

We are getting a new TJMAXX, and a ROSS, can't wait. We have a Marshalls Mega Store, but it has no where near the stuff the Home Goods Stores do.

Donna: Do you live anywhere near Conway, AR. There is a Home Goods there. Here is a link to the information http://www.homegoods.com/search_results_state.aspx?postcode=&city=&state=AR&radius=100&image1.x=48&image1.y=17

Carole: Go to their website and type in your zip code. They have something like 250 stores nationwide so hopefully there will be one nearby.

Cindy: They seem to be expanding rapidly. I shop all those stores ( a good Ross is hard to beat for prices) but Home Goods usually has the best layout and higher end merchandise. I hope you get one soon.

I love Home Goods and I too have found incredible deals.  The inventory is always changing which is great.  They also have incredible art.

Glad to hear that you'll have one close by you real soon.

Glad to learn you will have one closer to you Michelle!  I love Home Goods too, but have to drive an hour in towards Chicago to get to one.  It is worth the trip and I always stock up when I go.  They always have unique finds.

Kathy: I can't even tell you how much money I have spent at Home Goods. Everytime I go, I wind up spending at least $500 and it is usually $1,000+!. I am on a buying moratorium now (enforced by my accountant) so I have to stay away from HG for a little while. Though I do have a good excuse to go next Sunday to the Grand Opening:o))

Michele: I used to have to drive 45 minutes in each direction, and it was even worse if there was any traffic. This new one is about 5 miles from my house. My American Express card is weeping in my wallet right now though.

Michelle, Thanks for the link to the store in Conway.  Conway is about 2 1/2 hours from me. But if I get the chance I will visit. Thanks

Donna: It is worth the trip if you have a project coming up. They have very nice accessories, plants, lamps, artwork, furniture and dishes at very reasonable prices.

Michelle-

I'm very excited too!  I got a postcard about the Grand Opening on Sunday (10/12).  Also, I read they are hiring for a Home Goods in Glendale.  Kinda surprised me since Glendale and La Canada are minutes from each other.  Have you heard anything about the Glendale store?

Posted by Design by Marla- Home Staging, Marla Hofstee, Burbank & Los Angeles, CA (Design by Marla) over 3 years ago

Marla: I haven't heard about a Glendale store. Glendale and La Canada are somewhat close, but they serve two vastly differnt markets. Oh goody! I feel like a kid in a candy store.

You fooled me with your title. I thought it was coming to Canada! Now I'm all disappointed. :(

Posted by Michelle Finnamore (Advantage Staging - Home Staging in Vaughan and Woodbridge) over 3 years ago

Sorry Michelle. No trick intended. We actually have a city named La Canada here in SoCal. Very ritzy!

I have a Home Goods, Ross and TJMaxx all less than 2 miles from me.  Yes it's very handy, very tempting, and very expensive when I get bored!  :)  If it's a bad TV night, my husband quit asking where are you going now?  He just says oh Home Goods again.  It is my favorite for sure.  Thank goodness the new season is starting for television!  LOL.

Robyn: If Home Goods is profitable this year in So California, they have me to thank. I drive a Toyota 4Runner and there have been a number of times that I wasn't sure if I could fit all my purchases in there. Up until now Home Goods was too far for me to make a trip just for the heck of it. That will be changing this weekend!

Michelle, with one that close it's really easy to just make two trips!  Too bad American Express doesn't have a limit...................or is it? LOL  If you find you're doing the REALLY big purchase they offer you their own credit card and take an additional 10% off the first time.

Besides...... them turning a profit is really important to help out the economy and keep consumer spending up.  Not that you have to do it singlehandedly but every bit helps!  LOL.

There are no Home Goods stores in my state. :(

Hearing ya'll talk about them makes me frustrated!

BTW, I used to live in the near-to-La Canada, but not-so-ritzy, Montrose. I loved the area. It's very picturesque and I miss the mountainous terrain compared to the flat-flat-flat Louisiana.

Shopping was always interesting, easy,  and very fun. Boutiques of merit are few and far between here, and there are no funky little off-beat coffee shops!  I mean, none. I miss those more than anything, and Starbucks is just too corporate and boring. Here, you get regular or decaf coffee at the Stop-and-Rob. It's so primitive... what I wouldn't give for a big iced chai tea some days made a barrista with no less than 5 facial piercings.

When you talk about that particular part of greater LA, it's just about the only time I ever get wistful for city life. You city gals have it too good, I hope you know. I even miss the traffic sometimes.

Michelle: Yes, but you get to eat beignets and debris po'boys. And there are no drive-thru dacquari stands here. No funky little coffee shops? Sounds like a business opportunity to me! And as far as not having a Home Good in the 'hood - your bank account thanks you.

Robyn: My American Express card yelps like a whipped dog every time I just drive past Home Goods. But I do love those frequent flyer miles.

Some of the checkers at Home Goods take their break when they see me get in line. It's no fun checking someone out who has 4 shopping carts full, plus all the lamps I put on the counter behind the register before I got in line. And then, of course, they have to help me load it all in my truck.

They offer me a credit card everytime I go in there, but unless they are going to give me 10% off everytime, its not worth it. Besides, did I tell you, I LOVE THOSE AMERICAN EXPRESS FREQUENT FLYER MILES?

Posted by Michelle Minch Home Staging Los Angeles & Pasadena, CA (Moving Mountains Design Home Staging, Pasadena, CA) over 3 years ago

Michelle, I have honestly never even seen real-life "debris," after knowing what it is, I never want to. I know everyone around here has fond memories of it, but I have to draw the line somewhere, and debris is the line. Gimme  some tender frog legs, a nice turtle sauce-piquant, or paper sack of crunchy, greasy cracklins... all day long. But if the name means literally means trash, this buffet queen will go to bed hungry. I love my heritage, but not that much

But really, Home goods sounds so....complete. Our local go-to-stores are Hobby Lobby and Linen's 'N  Things. They are great, but Home Goods stores sound like they have everything, and much more. But, you are right about the pocket book. I can just see me high-tailing it across state lines to get to the Houston Home Goods, loading up my truck with glee, and having to panhandle for gas money to get home.

Oh I'm laughing out loud for sure!!  The new Home Goods people won't know your MO yet, they'll be nice,.................for awhile!

I get the credit card offer too, I think they should give us 10% off EVERYTIME.  How can we make that happen? We are a pretty strong group that is still spending money in this economy.

I'm chalking up the American Express points myself, but not for FF miles.  I'm a homebody, so don't know what I'll do with them.  Probably get American EXpress gift cards and go to Home Goods!

Michelle M., hi, Chai tea,  girl you have Blue Hurricanes!  They are amazing drinks, don't know what's in em, but pretty powerfull from what I can remember....LOL  Some of the best times I've ever had was in Louisianna.  I have two sisters in Baton Rouge and I visit once in awhile.  There is a TJMaxx there and some cute little shops, are you near Baton Rouge?

Posted by Robyn Guinn, home staging, Arizona (StageAZ) over 3 years ago

Michelle: This one's for you!

For those of you who don't know, a debris po'boy is a sandwich made of all the little bits that fall off a roast beef into the jus while it is cooking. It is scooped out of the roasting pan and onto a "poor boy" (french) roll. It is heaven on a roll (and a heart attack on a roll)! And the best place on earth to buy one is Mothers in New Orleans. Michelle (Molinari) knows not what she is missing:o))

Home Goods is such a great place to shop, you should make a pilgrimage to Houston. It will blow you away.

Robyn: I agree about getting 10% off. Trust me, I have asked numerous times. They say their merchandise is already deeply discounted so they won't be giving us any further discounts. But if you know anyone who works there, they do get an employee discount(wink, wink)

You've got to get out more often, Girl! You can use you miles for a nice hotel and spa treatment in Sedona. You don't have to use them for flights.

Michelle,

I found out that the Home Goods in Glendale is going in near Americana on Brand.  I think it will be in the store that was Tower Records.

Marla: That's great news. I hope it is a big as the store in Glendora. I visited the one in La Canada and it is much smaller, a Home Goods Lite.

Michelle,

Another Home Goods, fantastic! This store is such a good source for stagers and designers...and the La Canada location is much needed, so this is great news!

Another frequent flier at HG.  The stores rock ! Think of the extra pennies you'll save with fewer miles traveled :) enjoy, Valesca

Valesca: I'll be spending those pennies at Home Goods, for sure.

Home Goods rocks!!  They are my best source for quality and unique silk trees, plants & table lamps & great bathroom towels!!

I just purchased two amazing 8'.. very high quality silk tree's today.. very nicely potted too.. for $99 each.  I've found that for the tree's I have to just keep looking from time to time.. sometimes they have a bunch.. and sometimes none. :-)

Hi Charles: Yes, you can find some great treasures at Home Goods but you do have to go back fairly regularly to get the best merchandise.

I'm blessed to have 3 different Home Goods stores within a short drive.

Michelle,

I love Home Goods Store.  My first experience visiting one was in Arizona.  A client flew me out to do a Staging to Live.  After a successful sale of her home she moved to Arizona.  She got everything new and we got to visit so many stores...but I was in Heaven at Home Goods.  When I came back to Northern CA I looked up where the closest one was...its about an hour away from where I live but well worth the drive.  I have found amazing things there!  Great topic for a post!

Linda: I am blessed/cursed to have 3 Home Goods stores within about 20 miles. I feel sorry for home stagers that don't have access to a Home Goods.
